Positive Support Services in North Yorkshire and York
NYAA provides a range of services for anyone in North Yorkshire and York who is affected by HIV. Services include support, advocacy, HIV information and peer group meetings. Details are given in the relevant sections.
North Yorkshire AIDS Action (NYAA) registered as a Charity over 20 years ago to provide practical and emotional support to people living with or affected by HIV who were living in North Yorkshire and York.
Over the years, our service has evolved to reflect the developments in HIV treatment, and today we are able to offer a wide range of support services.
If you, or someone you care for, has been diagnosed with HIV then contact us to find out how we could support you. NYAA is working in partnership with YorSexualHealth (YSH) so you have a fast, confidential referral pathway. Your Health Professional can contact us on your behalf or if you prefer, you can refer yourself. Our services are confidential, free and non-judgemental. NYAA aims to work with people living with or affected by HIV in a holistic way, so that their social care needs can be met and their health and well-being maintained and improved. We use Needs Assessment and Outcome tools to work with service users to identify their needs, develop action plans and measure outcomes. The aim is to encourage and develop self-care management, so that people living with HIV can take control of their own health and social care.
